Mohamed Amin Jagani is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President of Clinetica Biosciences International, Inc., a global provider of clinical drug development solutions to the biopharmaceutical industry. Since inception, Amin has focused the company - through organic growth, on the global outsourcing opportunity to help biopharmaceutical companies develop new medicines with a focus on quality, speed and value. Amin began his career in the mid nineties as a pharmacy assistant and went on to become a pharmacist. Over the years, he has held various positions of increasing responsibility in a variety of health care settings including pharmacy academia, community pharmacy, hospital and the pharmaceutical industry. In 1998 Amin joined Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals as a Clinical Research Associate. Later in 2000, Amin joined Eli Lilly & Company and worked his way up to become Global Project Manager responsible for overseeing the North and South American component of a large International clinical trial involving 10,000 patients in 26 countries around the world (RUTH Trial). In 2005, Amin moved on to the Contract Research Industry (CRO) and worked in a senior project management role at INC Research, a multinational CRO specializing in CNS and Oncology. Prior to becoming CEO of Clinetica, Amin served as Director of Operations for PPD Canada, Inc. a global multinational CRO with revenues in excess of $1 billion.
A native of East Africa (Mombasa, Kenya), Amin holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Cell & Molecular Biology from the University of Toronto, BPharm, professional degree in pharmacy from University of Toronto and an Executive MBA from the Queen's School of Business. Amin has served on the Board of Directors of the Wexford Long Term Care Corporation and is also licensed to practice pharmacy (R.Ph) with the Ontario College of Pharmacists. In 2005 Amin was awarded the prestigious Queen Executive MBA New Venture Prize for the best business plan amongst hundreds of candidates. Amin also serves as the Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board for Clinetica Biosciences International, Inc.
Giles manages the Toronto office of Parker Prins Seel. He has a general focus in auditing, accounting, and taxation, with a particular interest in the software industry. As an advisor for Clinetica, Giles will assist with Clinetica's global information systems, investor relations and strategic planning initiatives. In addition, Giles will also assist current CFO (Mr. Elton Lau) in the compilation of Clinetica's annual financial statements and corporate tax returns. With a background in general practice, including audit, accounting, and taxation work, Giles' experience has included involvement in the audit of financial institutions, municipalities, and retail organisations. He also has a broad base of experience in personal and corporate return preparation and financial statement review. Giles also has eight years' operational experience in the software industry, where he worked at the director level for Systems Union (now Infor), a mid-market financial accounting system author and vendor. His responsibilities in this role included the management of consulting activities for the Americas, the operation of the US- based integration development group, sales of software and services, and financial planning and monitoring. His clients while at Systems Union ranged from small not-for-profit entities to large Fortune 500 companies, and he had extensive involvement in international projects. Giles received his Chartered Accountancy Designation in 1994. After articling with BDO Dunwoody in Ottawa, Giles moved to Deloitte & Touche for four years before joining Systems Union. He joined Parker Prins Seel in 2007. He is a native of Nova Scotia and enjoys sailing and karate in his spare time.
Mr. Kawasaki is a member of the Clinetica’s Scientific Advisory Board and currently holds the position of Director of Regulatory Affairs & Quality Management for Becton Dickinson Canada, Inc. – a global medical device company. Mr. Kawasaki has held this position since 2005. Prior to joining BD Canada, Inc., Mr. Kawasaki’s experience spanned a decade of progressively senior management roles in the biopharmaceutical industry in the area of regulatory affairs and quality assurance for companies like Eli Lilly and Lorus Therapeutics. Mr. Kawasaki is current Chair of MEDEC Regulatory Steering Committee - a consortium of Canada’s Medical Device Technology Companies and is also a Lecturer at the Academy of Applied Pharmaceutical Sciences in Toronto. Mr. Kawasaki is a member of several professional associations including CAPRA and RAPS and a recipient of several distinguished leadership awards during his tenure at Eli Lilly and BD Canada. Mr. Kawasaki holds a B.Sc. in Zoology and M.Sc. in Physiology from the University of Toronto and an MBA from the Schullich School of Business, York University.
Mr. Hanrahan is a member of the Clinetica Scientific Advisory Board and currently holds the position of President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Clochase, Inc. – a rapidly expanding, global provider of innovative solutions to the telecommunications industry. Clochase's clients include leading players within telecommunications industry such as Bell Canada, Inc. Prior to founding Clochase, Mr. Hanrahan was Software Development Manager for Honeywell, Inc. Mr. Hanrahan co-founded Clochase in 2005 and is currently responsible for growing the bottom line by focusing the organization on developing operational excellence. Clochase entered the Chinese marketplace in late 2005 by forming a joint venture with China Telecom and set up the first R&D Centre in China in 2006. Mr. Hanrahan’s professional experience spans over 2 decades working in progressively senior management roles for companies like Loblaws, Bailey Canada Inc. and Bartek Ingredients. During this time Mr. Hanrahan developed a proven track record of excellence in operations management, project management and leadership. Mr. Hanrahan holds a Bachelor of Engineering & Management from McMaster University and (B.Eng. & Mgmt) and an Executive MBA from the Queen’s School of Business.
Peter Evans advises entrepreneurs and high growth companies in ICT markets, specializing in corporate strategic planning, marketing and channel development. Peter has over 15 years experience working in venture-backed technology start-ups and publicly traded companies in the software, Internet services, online media and telecommunication sectors. Previously, Peter worked in major accounts sales, product management, research and senior marketing roles at Call-Net, Bell Canada, MediaLinx/Sympatico, FloNetwork (acquired by DoubleClick in 2001), PlateSpin Inc. and DCCI Inc. He serves on the board of directors of Sitebrand in Ottawa and the Toronto Venture Group. He is also a member of the Toronto Angel Group. Peter is a noted speaker on various technology and business-to-business marketing trends and best practices. He was educated in cognitive psychology and telecommunications management at the University of Toronto and Ryerson and also holds an MBA from Queen’s University.
David Green currently operates a business consulting firm aimed at coaching and mentoring small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and providing guidance on goals setting, strategic direction, business development action planning and preparation to seek financing. Mr. Green’s experience includes new business start up and developing global business for new products in the high tech arena. Mr. Green has diplomas in mechanical and electrical engineering.
Juan is the founder of Carranza, Barristers and Solicitors.
Juan has worked representing accident victims since 1992. He has appeared before several courts and tribunals including: the Superior Court of Ontario, Ontario Court of Appeal, Federal Court of Canada, Financial Services Commission of Ontario, CRTC, Immigration Refugee Board, CPP and WSIB. Juan is the first Central American to be called to the Law Society of Upper Canada. He is a past president and member of the Board of Directors of Salvaide, a non-profit organization. He has been a member of the Latin American Community Centre, and Salvadorean Settlement Services, and has volunteered with several organizations including CLASP, Centre for Spanish Speaking People, and CSCDES. He was the producer of the 1994 community TV program “Que Pasa Aqui?” He is a former news reporter with the radio show “Central America this Week” on CKLN. Juan is a member and past chair of the board of Salvaide. Juan was honoured with the “Somos Capaces” award of the Centre for Spanish Speaking Peoples, and the Law Society of Upper Canada’s award for Community Service in 2000. Juan is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, and Ontario Brain Injury Association.
